Assignment 1 of 3
Work on the following IRP assignments, plus any you have left to finish. You are responsible for completing the ones below on your own.
IRP #4: Illustration
Draw an illustration (that does not already exist) of a key moment in the story that could be placed on the cover of the book. Write a short caption (2-3 sentences) to go with it that explains why you drew this image.
IRP #7: Soundtrack
List five songs that could form the soundtrack to your book and explain why you chose each song in 2+ sentences. You may use lyrics (in quotes, PG-13 selections only) to help you explain why you chose a specific song.
IRP #9: "Be Creative" assignment
Provide a creative tie-in for your book (alternate ending, retelling fan fiction, comic strip, poem, board game, promotional action figure, etc.) that reflects your understanding of the book (its themes, characters, social/historical context, etc.
KEEP IN MIND: Your IRP is due to Ms. Ng at the end of next week (whenever you have her class).

Complete the following CEL paragraph before coming to class:
Think about Odysseus’ interactions with Calypso and Polyphemus: Select ONE example of his heroism from either book then write a C-E-L paragraph in which you:
a. Write a claim identifying a heroic quality he exhibits in either Book 5
or Book 9
b. Provide a properly cited quote that shows him demonstrating this
quality (set it up properly)
c. Clarify what he’s doing in the quote that’s heroic
d. Connect your quote to the answer (i.e., explain why Odysseus’
actions can be considered heroic)

Finish your annotations for Book 10 up to where we left off (e.g., line 523 for period 5).
Even though I'm not asking for quotes or character bios to be completed by today's class, you should be thinking about quotes to add to your quote log and expect to complete character bios for Hermes and Circe over the weekend.
