Homework due the first day back from Winter Break (1/1316 OR 1/14/16)

  1. Study for your second Word Roots Quiz on either Wednesday or Thursday.  Know all 19 word roots from the list (audi ~ viv, vita, vivi)
    • The list of word roots, prefixes and suffixes is attached as a file to the class website (look for the file posted 10/14/14).
    • Spelling counts for both word roots and examples on this one.
    • If there are multiple roots, you need to provide at least 2 (ex. the root for "feeling, suffering" is "path-/-path/-pathy" ... you need to put "path" AND "pathy" as your answer for full credit).
    • If there are multiple meanings for a root, you need to provide at least 2  (ex. for the root "dict" you would need to put both "say" AND "speak" for full credit)
  2. Complete TWO Achieve 3000 articles of your choosing before 11:59 p.m. Tuesday night (1/12).
    • Use the graphic organizer you were given in Seminar (or English, if you do not have Ms. Ng).  If you lose it, a copy will be posted online by Ms. Ng.
    • Make sure to do ALL FIVE steps for BOTH articles.
  3. Find a book to read for your second semester IRP over winter break.  Make sure to get it approved by me via email over break.
    • The guidelines for your first semester IRP book still apply: no lower than 100 points below your current lexile level, no anthologies or series works, no works with media tie-ins (books made into films, novelizations of video games, etc.), 200 pages minimum (no short stories, poems, graphic novels, etc.).
    • Guidelines are attached to the website (look for the file dated 3/20/15).  A list of possible AP texts to choose from are attached to the website (look for the link posted 3/6/15).
  4. Fill out the IRP Approval Worksheet for your second semester IRP book once it is approved.  You will need to select your book and get it approved no later than Friday January 29th.
    • If you lose your copy, look for the file "IRP Approval Worksheet" posted 12/16/15.
