Add to your annotations for pp. 38-56.  You should focus in your annotations on examples of imagery, symbolism, repetition and foreshadowing.
 
Period 6: Read pp. 54-56 on your own.  Stop before the line beginning, "Lennie drummed on the table ..."
 
 
Assignment 2 of 5:
Answer these comprehension questions for Section 3 in your notebook.  You should have answers for #1-3 by Thursday/Friday.
 
1)  What does George confess to doing to Lennie when they were younger? Why is George's story on p. 40 important?
 
2)  How are Curley's Wife and the girl in Weed alike?
 
3)  Why is the shooting of Candy’s dog so important?  
 
4)  What new information do we get in Section 3 about George and Lennie’s dream ranch?
 
5)  How does Steinbeck characterize Curley during the fight sequence with Lennie? Why is this important?
 
 
Assignment 3 of 5:
Finish the introduction to your literary analysis essay on Of Mice and Men by Wednesday.  Instructions and sentence starters for the four sentences you need to write for your introduction are on the outline given out in class.
 
This essay is part of your final grade.  It is therefore ridiculously dangerous NOT to do this essay.  Your typed final draft, completed rough draft, peer editing and completed outline will all be due Monday the 3rd or Tuesday the 4th.
